S. — No Electrode should be used the second time without having been perfectly cleansed. This is done for the sponges, in the first place, by warm water and soap ; then rinse and pass them through dilute chloride of sodium, or dilute muriatic acid, say one part of the chloride or acid to ten parts of water; then rinse them again, when they will be sweet as new.
