He is wisdom. Know, mortal, that as you pass through the various stages of transmigration and are duly initiated into these mysteries, so finally you shall attain your degree of sublime perfection." Paulus Androcydes trembled violently and extended the ring-finger of his left hand to the Egyptian. As he touched Athothis a strange, thrilling sensation permeated his body; his white, bushy hair seemed to rise on end as if endowed with electric tension, while innumerable sparks flashed before his eyes, and the muscles of his face were so violently twitched that the green glass gog- gles fell to the floor. There was a pause of a few seconds, then the kindly voice of Athothis inquired : "In what field of knowledge do you desire to glean information ? " " Enlighten me in regard to medicine; teach me the secrets of the healing art," responded the physician.
