Because my neighbor can not drink liquor without mak-
ing a beast of himself, is that a valid reason for my ab-

" You could set a good example," answered Athothis,
gently. "You could thus encourage those who are
weak-headed and faint-hearted."
" On the same principle that my neighbor cannot eat
green apples without colic, whereas I suffer no incon-
venience from the delicious fruit," quoth Paulus Andro-

" The comparison is unfair to your own stomach," re-
torted Athothis. " Like all your sex, you are utterly
selfish. Every man, according to your idea, must work
out his own salvation ; permit the sale of alcohol and
