Health Visiting. Seven whole-time health visitors were on the staff at
the end of 1960, which was fourteen below establishment. Their time was
also partly devoted to work in the School Health Service and tuberculosis
visiting under a co-ordinated scheme.
Their work is summarised below in the form required by the Ministry
of Health :—

Clinic Nurses. Owing to the number of resignations of health visitors
and the difficulty in obtaining replacements, clinic nurses have been
appointed as a temporary measure. Seven full-time clinic nurses were on
the staff at the end of I960.
Health of Children. The lack of health visitors has prevented any
extension of their work beyond the mothers and children under five, but
in the normal course of their duties they pay particular attention to
problem families.
As required by the Minister in circular 27/54 it is recorded that 35
problem families were under constant supervision. There were also 51
families requiring extra attention.
Child Welfare Centres. A summary of the 1960 statistics is given
below:—
