so as to ensure correctness, especially as the goods will be labelled and invoiced by such numbers; e.g.:— " 1 gross white embossed shouldered, and pink edged paper pill boxes, nested 1 dram to 1 oz., cut down," Need only be ordered and invoiced as well as labelled " 1 gross paper pill boxes, No. 5. 1 oz. nested CD." " 1 set of enamelled oil-silk sponge bags, covered with holland" Will be li 1 set of sponge bags, No. 14," Thereby saving much writing and confusion to all parties. It will be seen that in our Invoices we make frequent use of initials before the numbers; in such cases, when orders are repeated for same goods, we shall be glad if our friends will order by initial and number, as it saves the necessity of referring to trace the pattern, thus:— l dozen Hair Brushes, each Z. 7f8 19/. P.I5 7/6. F. l}~ 108/. 3 1 2345 I „ Mirrors, each M. 9 10/6. B. 27. 36X-24 46/. 8 1 „ Pommade Schic-Schic 2. 83. 15/. We have made arrangements with " The Chemist and Druggist," which will enable us to bring all our novelties before the trade through the medium of its columns, and as often as the season or occasion may require, we purpose introducing more complete and exhaustive lists of special articles than have ever hitherto been published. We commence by now inserting, in addition to our " General List," a list of Thermometers and Instruments for testing the specific gravity of liquids, and shall shortly follow with Lists of Fancy Brushes, Combs, &c, so fully described and illustrated, as to enable the purchaser who has not the opportunity of inspecting patterns, to select the goods much more advantageously than by prices only, and with the certainty that the shape, size, quality, and colour of the bristles, &c, will correspond with the description .given. Some idea of the magnitude and variety of our patterns in this class of goods may be formed from the fact, that, independent of Curl, Bandoline, and other Brushes, our running patterns all numbered and registered at present consist of above 800 Hair, 260 Cloth, 400 Nail, 400 Tooth and 150 Shaving Brushes. The following List is not issued in a competitive spirit, so much as to shew the market value of Druggists' Sundries at the present date. To shippers and large foreign buyers we think it will be found invaluable, both from its form and prices ; as the fact of our con- fining our transactions to them and chemists and druggists, to the exclusion of the medical profession (to whom we never knowingly supply lists or goods), enables us to quote lower prices than can be fixed by those who admit the latter on their books. We believe we stand alone in this respect, our study being to supply the members of the trade only, and at such prices as shall enable them to supply the surgeons, &c. Our Stock and Lists are, for convenience of arrangement, divided into three depart- ments, which necessitates a little repetition : the first consists of Druggists' Sundries, the second of Surgical Goods, and the third of Perfumery and its adjuncts, such as Brushes, Mirrors, &c., &c. We have much satisfaction in drawing attention to our notice of removal, announced in another portion of this Periodical, and in being able to inform our numerous customers in America and the Colonies, that the ample space of our new premises will enable us to keep always on hand a large stock of Ede's Perfumes and other manufactures. As the foreign branch of our business is increasing so rapidly, we have established a depart- ment for its special attention, through which the goods of all other houses may be procured on commission ; this department will also have attached to it a counting-house for the use of buyers, and will, we believe, supply a long-felt want, viz.: a Commission House thoroughly understanding the markets for all classes of our goods. Our first-floor will be entirely arranged as a sample room, in which will be registered and exhibited, in addition to all our own samples, any novelties to which manufacturers may wish to call the attention of the trade. Home orders must be accompanied by a remittance or reference. Those from abroad by a remittance or a reference for payment in England, Cheques to be crossed " MARTIN & Co." Post Office Orders to be payable at the Chief Office, St. Martin-le-Grand. We shall be happy to see any of our friends who may visit the Metropolis and can spare time to call in Bow Lane on MORGAN BROTHERS. 15th September, 1859.
