HAWKES'S PATENT TRITURATING APPARATUS,
This invention, of which the engraving represents a side
elevation has reference to an improved Triturating Ap-
paratus, whereby the operation of pounding or pulverizing
bv means of a 'pestle and mortar, through the medium ot
machinery or apparatus, is more expeditiously and effec-
tually performed than hitherto, and consists m imparting to
the pestle a combined vertical and rotatory action, in place
of the simple rotatory movement as at present, the said
action being given through the intervention or toothed,
pinion and eccentric gear, directed from a winch handle or
crank motion.
<PT This apparatus may be attached to a steam engine,
or be worked by baud. The sieving apparatus can be
added or not at option.
