The estimated number of inhabited dwellings in the County Borough on 31st December, 1960, was 34,918. For a population of 101,180 this is equivalent to an average of 2-9 persons per dwelling. It is recorded that 2,272 questionnaires were answered for the Town Clerk’s Department under the Land Charges Act, 1925.
